Erlend Hjelvik (YELL-vik) is a metal composer, lyricist, and vocalist from Vikedal, Norway. In 2006, Erlend co-founded Kvelertak, the genre-defying rock & metal band known for its high-energy live shows and led by the owl-headed frontman’s savage vocals, performance, and lyrics. In July 2018, Erlend Hjelvik announced that he had left the band. His replacement, Ivar Nikolaisen (of Silver and The Good, The Bad and The Zugly), was announced on 20 July at their show in Fjellparkfestivalen, Flekkefjord - he had previously featured as a guest vocalist on 'Blodtørst'. HJELVIK is the new solo-band of ex-KVELERTAK frontman, lyricist and co-founder Erlend Hjelvik. After touring worldwide with some of the world’s greatest bands like METALLICA, SLAYER and GHOST and earning four Norwegian Spellemann awards, Erlend parted ways with his bandmates in 2018 and has spent the last two years songwriting and creating HJELVIK’s first solo album.
